Bathroom Renovation Trends

Posted by Kristen O’Coin

We are currently in the middle of a few different bathroom renovations. Each one has its own style and flair but I thought I would do a little digging into the biggest bathroom trends of 2013. The purpose of the bathroom has moved from utilitarian to “getaway”, second only to the master bedroom. With a new lease on life, the bathroom has transformed from a small and dreary space to large and luxurious.

Here are some of the hottest bathroom trends. Needless to say, the bathroom is a pretty hip place these days.

:: go big or go home on luxurious showers with multiple jets, faucets and shower heads

:: free-standing or soaking tubs giving a more airy, relaxing and clean feeling

:: chrome and brushed nickel features and accents

:: premium woods for cabinetry with excess storage space to keep surfaces clear

:: two separate his and hers vanities (or at least double sinks)

:: go green with water efficient fixtures (for example, duel-flush toilets)

:: more windows for natural light

:: safety first with grab bars making a come back

:: adding unexpected pops of colour and elegant touches

Who wouldn’t want to spend a little extra time relaxing in that room?
